Commercial Specialists was incorporated in Grand Junction, Colorado in 1979 by Phil Porter as a Commercial Electronics / Special Systems Contractor. Though initially a manufacturer's representative of Pyrotronics Fire Systems, CSi disassociated themselves from Pyrotronics in 1991 and became Authorized Notifier Distributors that same year. CSi has since enjoyed success and prosperity in the Grand Junction market for more than 20 years.
In 1999, CSi in partnership with Dean Dorion created Commercial Specialists of Western Colorado, LLC. In Silverthorne, Colorado serving largely Summit and Eagle Counties. Since that time CSWC has tripled in size and has performed work and successfully completed projects from Aspen to Steamboat Springs to Durango with the majority of its work still occurring in the ski resort areas.
In March of 2001 and in the wake of Tyco's acquistion of Simplex Time Recorder Company, CSi again seized the opportunity to branch and opened an office in Colorado Springs, again partnering with Dean Doiron. The office in Colorado Springs already enjoys the successes of a reputation created by CSi Grand Junction, CSWC in Silvertorne and the integrity of the individuals making up the family of Companies.
Among the Principals of the three Companies are a total of more than 77 combined years of experience specifically in the Fire Alarm Industry and of that 77 years, a total of 62 years combined experience with Notifier Products. The Experience ranges from Sales to Design, to Service to Installation and Maintenance.
The Commercial Specialists family of Companies are truly committed to an intimate familiarity with the Codes and Standards that govern our business, thus our pledge to have all Service Technicians, Installers, Sales persons and Designers be Certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) in Fire Protection Engineering / Fire Alarm at a minimum of Level II, Associate Engineering Technician. Between CSi, CSSC and CSWC, we hold four (4) Level IV Certificatess, Senior Engineering Technicain, the highest level attainable, with a least one in each office location.
In June of 2001 all three offices of CSi were granted the NESCO Affiliate level of Distributorship with Notifier. NESCO (Notifier Engineered Systems Company) is a division of Notifier which supports the Networking Products manufactured by Notifier. The Networking products include Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN) and a product unique to Notifier, the UNI-NET, a high end Integration System with a single Graphical User Interface. The UNI-NET has the ability to integrate Fire Alarm, Security, CCTV, Access Control, Lighting and Environmental Controls. In order to achieve a NESCO Affiliate status, each Companymust demonstrate the ability to Engineer, Service install and Maintain these complex Systems.
With offices now in three strategic locations in Colorado, CSi now has in its authorized territory literally 75% of the State, excluding the Denver Metro area and the Northeast quadrant of Colorado. All of CSi's offices provide Service 24/7, UL Listed System monitoring, Test and Inspection services and include turnkey Installation services for all systems we sell.
In addition to Fire Alarm which represents the bulk of our business, CSi and CSWC offer leading Manufacturer Lines of equipment for Intercom, Nurse Call, Paging and Background Music from Dukane, Access Control from Info Graphics, Systems both commercial and residential from Bosch, CCTV from Bosch, Burle, Vicon, Pelco and Sanyo and Professional Sound from Altec Lansing, Electro Voice, IVIE, Soundsphere and University.
